Waya Nganha Fund.
Supporting Aboriginal Women’s Hygiene, Prenatal & Postnatal Care.
“Waya Nganha” means “for her” in Wiradjuri, and that’s what this fund is all about. .
The Waya Nganha Fund exists to support First Nations women in accessing vital hygiene products, maternal health resources, cultural birthing support, and safe postpartum care.
Why This Fund Matters
Across Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women face alarming barriers to basic healthcare and maternal support:
Over 25,000 Indigenous women of childbearing age live more than an hour from a hospital birthing unit
In some areas, more than 50% have no prenatal care access within a safe travel distance
The maternal mortality rate for Aboriginal women is over 3x higher than for non-Indigenous women
A class action against Queensland Health reveals widespread racism in Indigenous care
Disconnection from cultural birthing practices deeply impacts identity, healing, and community strength
These aren’t just numbers, they’re real stories of neglect, disempowerment, and injustice. We believe it’s time to create real change.
